Uluru in the Australian Outback
We have been fortunate to have traveled extensively, sometimes just for vacation, oftentimes, our adventures are attached to one of our teaching events. The last time we taught in Australia, we decided to travel into the Outback and view Uluru.
Flying to the Outback is an experience. The landscape gives way to a vast, open expansive land that stretches endlessly in reds and ochres. It is stitched with dry riverbeds and low scrub and then suddenly the rock emerges: Uluru.

What is most striking from the air is Uluru’s isolation, there is nothing competing with it. As the light changes throughout the day, the rock shifts in color from deep rust to glowing orange.
For the Anangu people, Ulruru is a living cultural and spiritual site. Its caves and contours hold stories passed down through generations. Stories of creation, law and responsibility are all told here. The outback is a place to respect.
