Exploring the World
International travel has been one of the great teachers of my life. Walking through ancient streets, standing before monuments, and sharing moments with people from different cultures has expanded not only my understanding of the world but also of myself. Each journey has left me with new stories, new perspectives, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and resilience woven into every corner of our globe.

Soweto – South Africa
I have just returned from my first visit to Africa: South Africa, a journey that began primarily as a professional one. I traveled there to meet and work alongside fellow chiropractors, but I also felt a strong pull to explore and better understand the country itself. Before arriving, my knowledge of South Africa was quite […]
Tallinn, Estonia
If I would have made a list of countries to visit, I would not have had Estonia on that list. But when my daughter, Emily, asked me to travel there with me, I said yes. We stayed right within the walls of Tallinn. I quickly realized how special that decision had been. Walking through the […]
Ubatuba – Brazil
After the completion of our teaching program in Brazil, we headed to Ubatuba to relax. Tucked along the northern coast of Sao Paulo state, this laid-back coastal town is lush with greenery and the rhythm of waves rolling onto the shore. Ubatuba is famous for its beaches, each with its own personality. There are quiet coves […]
Arc de Triomphe – Paris France
Few landmarks instantly signal a visit to Paris quite like the Arc de Triomphe. It appears again and again in family photographs, historic parade scenes and images of victory marches. Standing at the western end of the Champs-Elysees, the great arch stands where French history unfolded. The story of the Arc begins in 1806, when Napoleon […]
Baha’i Gardens in Haifa – Israel
For Marty’s 65th birthday, we traveled to Israel, a journey filled with extraordinary places that I will write about in time. But the place I want to begin with is the Baha’i Gardens in Haifa. Our group was given special access to this sacred site, allowing us to walk the entire length of the gardens […]
Cathedral in Saint Hyacinthe – Quebec
While teaching outside Montreal, we visited the town of Saint-Hyacinthe. I love exploring small towns, and I was not disappointed as we drove into the tree-lined streets, modest homes and then the skyline changed with the cathedral. The Cathedrale de Saint-Hyacinthe dominates its neighborhood. A cathedral of this scale and design speaks to the depth of […]
Milford Sound – New Zealand
In 2018, while we were in New Zealand teaching on the North Island, we carved out time to cross to the South Island for a holiday. One destination was Milford Sound, set deep within the UNESCO World Heritage region known as Te Wahipounamu. Reaching it felt like an expedition in itself. The drive carried us through […]
Niagara-on-the-Lake – Ontario, Canada
What a wonderful road trip that led us to Niagara-on-the-Lake. The moment we arrived, the town felt like a garden in full bloom. a city full of flowers and easily one of the most beautiful places we had ever seen. Carefully tended beds spilled color along the sidewalks, hanging baskets framed lampposts and porches overflowed with […]
Lotus Temple – Delhi India
The Lotus Temple in Delhi is one of those places that has stayed with me long after I visited it. This is a place where silence surrounds you. In a city as vibrant, crowded and sensory-rich as Delhi, the stillness of this temple was powerful. Completed in 1986, the Lotus Temple is a Baha’i House […]
Uluru in the Australian Outback
We have been fortunate to have traveled extensively, sometimes just for vacation, oftentimes, our adventures are attached to one of our teaching events. The last time we taught in Australia, we decided to travel into the Outback and view Uluru. Flying to the Outback is an experience. The landscape gives way to a vast, open […]
Omaha Beach
When we stood on the sands of Omaha Beach at Colleville-sur-Mer, it is hard to grasp the sheer scale of what occurred here on June 6, 1944. The shoreline is now peaceful, but on D-Day it was one of the most violent and deadly battlegrounds in modern history. In the early hours of that morning, […]
Panathenaic Stadium in Athens
Visiting the Olympic arena in Athens and sitting in the marble seats once reserved for royalty, was a special experience where we physically felt part of history. This site in Athens is the Panathenaic, meaning beautiful marble. This extraordinary venue is the only stadium ever built entirely of marble. This site was originally laid out in the 4th […]
